The Research Unit CITE (Liege University – School of Law) organises a symposium on boundaries. Usually defined as a marker defining border, distance or direction, the boundaries are also conceptual. If they generally outline the limits of the property and the possession, they also draw the contours of the state and its authority. Boundaries, whether physical or symbolic, are a criterion of inclusion or exclusion.  They tend to define the profile of individuals and of their group, considered in a complex environment. The boundaries are also temporal, marking the passage between what is before and what comes after.

Above all, boundaries are also a meeting place. Everyone is therefore invited to question the notion of limits in their research and to go beyond the limits of traditional disciplinary boundaries.
